Identifying and Valuing a Wright & McGill Aristocrat Fishing Rod
Question
We where given a 7' Wright & McGil Aristocrat Rod. No. AML-7' with a cork handle. My husband thinks it maybe bambo or graphite. It has never had a reel on it. It also has the cloth sleeve and the aluminum tube. We would like to know more about this rod due to we want to sell it. On the cork handle is brand but you can't make out anything on it like a date.
Answer
Hi Jammie,
It will make a big difference whether it is bamboo or fiberglass or graphite. If you have the ability to send me a photo of the rod, send it to joe@blackdogtackle.com and I'll review it for you.
If not, a bamboo rod will have a six sided shaft; fiberglass and graphite will have a round shaft.
Thanks, Joe
