Vintage Fly Rod Question

Question
I have an older fiberglass fly rod with the following information written adjacent to the cork handle.  Eagle Claw  Wright and McGill "Granger Double Duty" no. 8599 9ft Line 10  Any info on age, value, history would be greatly appreciated.
By double duty were they refering to a combo spinning and fly fishing rod.

Answer
Hi Alan,

Interestingly enough, I haven't found anything on this particular model in the books I use.  It is almost certainly from the 1960s as far as age goes.

As to "double Duty", does it have a reel seat or gudie setup that would lead you to believe it will work as either a fly or spinning rod?   it is a hefty enough rod to be used for either bass/walleye/pike or steelhead so maybe that is what they meant.  Just a guess, I have no idea.

Eagle claw rods are still made today.  They are not among the high end rods, but they hold up well and fish fairly well.  Lots of people carry one as a backup rod because they are relatively inexpensive.

Thanks,  Joe
