Heddon Bamboo flyrod value

Question
My father-in-law was an avid fly-fisherman. He obtained a bamboo rod in the late 1920s or early 1930s and it has passed down to my wife.  She is interested in its value--something we have no idea about and also when it may have been made.  Here are the specs and in terms of condition, it is mint.  It has been kept in a steel-case tube and within that it has been within the original cloth covering.
Heddon Deluxe, #35, 8.5 feet, 2F, 5.43 oz., and on the rod itself it reads:  H D H or E.  It comes in 4 pieces.
Thank you!

Answer
Terry,
Heddon company history:

Heddons are either loved or hated. I think they are decent rods and have a collectors value. Some books to read more about your rod at your main library:
Antique %26 Collectable Fishing Rods: Identification %26 Value Guide Homel, Dan. 1997 or
Bamboo Rod Restoration Handbook -Michael Sinclair .
But hard to find : Heddon. The Rod with the Fighting Heart 1997 also by Michael Sinclair .
You might be able to get it from DIck Spur:
ISBN #1-882418-26-3 - Paperback $25.00 or
Phone: (970) 243-8780 -- Fax: (970) 243-8572
E-mail: [email protected]

I own the Heddon- The Rod with the Fighting Heart book and if you want more than this e-mail [email protected]

I would pictures of the label to figure out why you are calling it Deluxe, which is a 50s model to the best of my memory. Homel gives the Heddon model #35 "Peerless" fly rod 8' c.1932  with an extra tip, 3 sections the  value of  $90, 235 and $415 for poor, good, excellent condition respectively. While he gives the Heddon #35 "Deluxe" fly rod 8 1/2' c.1950 with an extra tip, 3 sections the  value of  $80, 185 and $335 for poor, good, excellent condition respectively.

Mac
