Hardy fly rod

Question
I have a nine foot graphite (carbon fibre) Hardy Richard Walker Farnborough 7/8 weight rod in excellent condition.I found out after I bought it that it may be rare because it was made in 1978 only.I am not sure it has ever been fished-very clean cork handle. Can you tell me the value and where to look for a collector who might be interested? Thanks- John

Answer
Hi John,

This rod does not appear on any of my reference lists.  This seems to be the day for me to learn about new rod models.  I don't have any information on it at all.

Hardy is still in business and through their web site you can ask for assistance in identifying old Hardy rods.  They may also have some data on rod value.  At worst they would provide you with some history on the rod.  I suggest you try their site next.

Collectors may be another piece of information from Hardy.  I would also try the classic cane collectors web site for Hardy rod lovers.

Thanks,  Joe
