Beaverkill Fly Rod

Question
Hi Joe,
I purchased a Beaverkill Fly Rod at a garage sale last weekend.  Wonder if you might be able to tell me the age and value of the fly rod.  Here's the info printed on the Rod
Vanguard Beaverkill #6550 (8' ddry fly action  - fly line size D or HDH)  Also attached to the rod was a Martin Spring Return Reel - Model 94A.  I'd say that both the rod and reel are in fair condition.
Appreciate your assistance.
Jay

Answer
Hi Jay,

I assume this is a fiberglass fly rod.  I am not familiar with the Vanguard brand nor can I find anything about it.  I can tell you it is a 6wt rod...HDH is a 6wt DT line in modern terms, and D is a 6wt Level line in modern terms.

I'm going to guess that this was a house brand somewhere, probably made and sold in the 1960s, but I don't really know.  I would not think there is much value in either the rod or the reel.  Maybe $10-$20 for each?

Thanks,  Joe
