J. Bernard & Son Improved Corbet Fly Reel & Crack 200: History, Value & Rarity

Question
Hello sir, i hope you are having a good day. I recently was given my step grandfathers fishing collection an came across two interesting reels. One is the improved corbet reel(fly) by J. Bernard and son.in the 5 1/2 inch size it is in a leather case and has ivory handles. He has no idea when or where he got it but he was in London during WW2 so he probably got it then. the other reel is a french made crack 200. Any info about when these were made, rarity and value would be greatly appreciated.       thankyou, Justin

Answer
Justin

I have limited exposure to these reels. My understanding is that J. Bernard both made and sold other manufacturers reels under his name in London England.

I see them sell at auction from $100 to $200 each.

I would recommend going to the ORCA Fishing reel site to get more history on the reel.

The Crack spinning reels sell for about $50 each.
