Valuation of Vintage F. E. Thomas Fly Rod - Bangor, ME
Question
I am an old fisherman that also collects old reels (belong to ORCA) and rods. Several years ago I came across a rod marked F E Thomas, Bangor Me. 10 1/2 foot-9oz #10 line. The reel seat is marked "patented June 13,1913. Rod is like brand new, in original cloth case, has very little sweat stain on cork. ? approx value?
Thanks in advance, Warren
Answer
Hi Warren,
Is this a one handed or two handed rod?
Do you have the ability to send me some pictures of the rod? If so, send them to joe@blackdogtackle.com and I'll review them. Get closeup shots of the reel seat, handle, inscription area, ferrules, tiptop guides and some wraps.
It is possible that the rod has a fairly significant value. I don't want to rush into an estimate and would prefer to get a look at some pictures if that is possible.
Thanks, Joe
