Vintage Fly Rod Appraisal: Fenwick HMG & Shakespeare Wonderod

Can you help me put a value on the following fly rods?
Fenwick HMG GFF858  8'6"  3.5 0Z. This rod belonged to my father-in-law, and would be considered vintage.

Shakespeare Wonderod  Purist No. FY 940  9'-0"  DHK. Also belinged to the same person and would be considered vintage.

Hi Darlene,

The Fenwick HMG GFF858 is a graphite rod rated for an 8wt line.  Probably from the 1970s-1980s.  Value would be in the $30-$70 range. The HMG series in updated form is still sold new today.


The Shakespeare Wonderod Purist FY-940 is a fiberglass rod with a Fast action rated for an 11wt line.  Probably from around the 1960s.  Value would be in the $35-$60 range
