Browning Silaflex Rods

Question
I have four of these rods that I purchased back in the middle to late 60s. Two are casting that are in excellent condition, two handles and the hard plastic cases they came in. another is an ultra-light spinning, again in excellent condition along with the hard plastic tube it came in.  The last is a six foot spinning rod, with the plastic case.  the only thing with this rod is a thread is broken on one of the wraps.  I am talking about only about a 3/4 of an inch break.  any info you can provide would be helpful.  I really haven't looked at these rods or used them for the past 40 years.
Thank you,  John

Answer
Hi John,

I have very little information on Browning Silaflex rods unless they are fly rods.  I would not be able to provide much insight as to value.

I can say that all of the Browning Silaflex rods from this era are considered high quality, excellent rods.  Since you have the original cases and they are all in excellent condition, I assume they are going to rated well on the value scale and they would be desirable rods on the market.

Repairing the wrap is not a big deal and should not detract greatly from the rod value or overall condition.

You might try to locate one of the online discussion boards where the main topic is fiberglass rods; there are some out there on the internet. Typically, the folks who frequent the discussion boards dedicated to one topic will have plenty of detailed information on specific rod models and even the company.

Sorry I could not be of more help.

Thanks,  Joe
