bamboo shakespare rod

we have shakespare bamboo fly rod 1811-B-9...what can you tell me about it?

I am going to guess that your rod is a model 1311-B-9 mainly beacuse Shakespeare did not make a model 1811 bamboo rod.

The 1311-B-9 was most likely made in the 1926-1934 time frame; it was named the Intrinsic; rated M for all-around use; and cost about $20.00 when new.  Shakespeare did not actually make bamboo rods.  They had the rods made by other companies and their name and model numbers put on the rods.  This is still a common practice in the industry.  Your rod appears to have been made by Heddon.

Value always depends on condition of the rod and the original rod bag and tube if you have them. This rod in Poor-Fair condition would be valued in the $40-$50 range; in Good-Very Good condition in the $100-$120 rnage; and in Excellent-Mint condition in the $200-$250 range.
