type of rod

hi i have a daiwa bw2 baitcaster i am not sure on what type of rod will give me the best result's and size of the rod

Hi Marc,

That's a nice reel from about 6-7 years ago.  You will enjoy it.

As far as rods, that reel will work great on just about any medium to heavy baitcasting rod.  Its more about what you want to do with it or what types of lures you want to cast.  

For most bass and pike fishing with lures 1/4 ounce to 3/4 ounce (spinnerbaits, crankbaits, top water, worms, jigs) you could look for a medium weight fast action baitcaster.  If you are going to throw heavier lures, jump up to a medium-heavy fast action.  If you would want to use it for bigger pike baits and small musky baits, look for a rod that will handle 1/2 to 1-1/2 ounce baits.

Spool it with 10-12# line for a medium, 12-14# for medium heavy, and 17-20# for heavy.
