Great Lakes Products Whirl-a-way Fishing Reel - History & Details
Question
Dear Robert, i have bought a "strange" fishing reel. Made by great lakes products. You may have done your research previously from an earlier inquiry. If you have any further knowledge about the "whirl-away" please advise. Thank you in advance, joe
Answer
Joe,
Yes, its a rod and reel combination called the Whirl-a-way by Great Lakes Products. They were made in the mid 1950s. The early model had a handle that slid to the bottom/back of the ball when casting. The later version had a fixed handle on side.
Typically they sell for $20 to $50 depending on condition. Mint in the box over $100....
