Hi,
    I recently acquired several old reels and rods.. I have a leather case with metal rod inset holder that reads  Heddon Superlative Tubular Glass Rod #2270 (XL)? 6ft.  When I bought the rods none of them were in the case and I don't know which one is the rod that goes in the case.  Can you describe what it looks like?  What is the value of this rod.  Thank you in advance, Robby

Hi Robby,

Sorry, I don't know what this rod looks like and it's not in any of my books.  I would guess it is 30-40 years old, but not old enough to be in the vintage value books I use.

Most of the modern era rods have some sort of model and maker identification printed on the shaft above the handle.  Take a look at the decals and printing on the rods for clues.

It is always possible that the case and insert are for a rod that is not part of the group of rods you acquired.
