Identifying Materials Used in Vintage Murphy Trollers Clutch/Brake Pads

Hello, I am wondering if anybody out there would know what type of material was used on the friction pad that is used as the clutch/brake system on and old Murphy Troller.

Hi Dennis,

I have looked everywhere and I cant find an answer to this one.  

My last effort would be to call the reel repair folks associated with Bass Pro Shops.  They have helped me out on some old stuff before.  Bu this is going to be a tough one.
