Heddon #13 & #14 Lure Repair & Replacement - Expert Advice

Question
The guide on the butt section of my #13 is missing. is the guide similar to the one on my #14? is it reddish agate? Can you advise me where I can buy one?
The top eye of the tip section of my #14 is broken. It is a"c" shape instead of an "o". Again, can you tell me where I can get another. I have the little broken off piece and was thinking of trying to braze it back on to save removing and rewinding. Is this risky, do you think?

Answer
Tom,
I may have  what you need (e-mail macsrods@yahoo.com). Mine are off old rods and look more authentic. Measure the inside and outside diameter of the stripper guide. Yes usually there were red agate or agatine (ceramic not stone).
You can also get one from Golden Witch http://goldenwitch.com/
The top eye is called the tiptop. I am unclear but I think the metal or agate is broken (if it has agate). Get a new one from me or golden witch - send me pictures as well as inside diameter of the hole where it fits on the rod.
Braze- I think you are looking at some troubles. If you heat up the tip top the glue may fail creating a jet like explosion shooting the tip top across the room . You may also cause a glue failure on the rod itself.
One can replace a stripper or tip top and then brush finish carefully on the new threads ,but it is not easy.
Maybe its time to restore this rod.
Luck
Mac
