Michigan Musky

Question
Hi,
I just bought a new rig from the Ugly stick line made for catfish. It is a 7' medium action rod with large spinning reel and 12lb test line.  I would like to set it up for a known location for Tigers this year.  Like to get advice about line and lure and if possible any info on times of day ect...

Answer
My favorite line is Spiderwire Stealth. I liked it so much on my baitcasting reels that I put it on my Steelhead spinning reels. I would go with the 20# test stuff, not that you need 20# but the larger diameter is much easier to work with.

Every body of water is different for what lure works best, so I would check with the locals and bait shops in the area. You can't go wrong with a bucktail.

The best times of the day are many but here are a few: weather change, first light till sunrise, sunset to last light, moonrise, moonset, moon overhead, and moon underfoot.

I hope this helps and most importantly remember to be prepared to properly handle a musky so that you can let it go unharmed.

Best of Luck,
Joe
