Answer
Hi Christian,

This question may be better suited for an aquarium expert, but I'll throw in my two cents.

Fish can go a long time without eating.  Many days, a week, bigger fish several weeks.  That wouldn't be my concern right now.  I'd be concerned about keeping the oxygen level in the water high.  Run an aerator or keep adding fresh water to the tank or bucket you have him in.  Even a small fish will use up the dissolved oxygen in a 5 gallon pail of water very quickly.  Make sure it isn't city-water or use a chlorine remover.

In a few days, after he gets used to the new surroundings, he may eat.  A small bit of worm, a wax worm or meal worm, a little bread, insects, kernel corn, oat meal, or commercial fish food would be ok.  I had some bluegills around the dock at a lake we used to vacation at that we fed 1" pieces of cooked spaghetti.  They loved it.

Right now, don't worry too much about the food.  Worry about the oxygen in the water!

Marc
