Horrocks and ibbotson

Question
I have a very very clean HI tonkin cane pole GENEVA model the wrapping is a burgundy color, all tight.cork handle is pristine, no stains or little pieces missing. sliding reel ferrules are bright and shiny. rod appears to be unused.there is NO bag or case.It is going to auction.
An estimate of value would be appreciated, thanks ...Mike

Answer
Mike
Probably under $50.
The Geneva model is not mentioned in Antique & Collectable Fishing Rods:Identification & Value Guide Homel, Dan. 1997, usually indicates no one is collecting it at all. I have never heard of this model and it is not mentioned in Bamboo Rod Restoration Handbook -Michael Sinclair . That is very unusual . I am assuming it is  bamboo with flat sides. I don't think there is a Geneva model . You can send pictures to [email protected].
If you do sen me length , number of sections , are the sections equal , pics of the labels and or writing.
HIs generally are  not very valuable.
They are looked down upon by the collecting community and often they are justified. They were mass produced , rather heavy and very slow. They are not going to resale for very much.
Good luck
Mac
