Waltonian Fly Reel

Question
We inherited a working reel in a Shakespeare, Kalamazoo box.  There is a receipt in the box for cleaning and repair, back in the 1960's.  The small black jack lever still works.  I see on Lang Auctions a non functional one went for $250.00 two years ago.
My question is in three parts.
1.  Is the box original to the piece?
2.  Since it hasn't been cleaned in 40 years, would that cleaning bring down the value?
3.  What is the piece worth on todays market?
Thank you for your consideration in this matter and MERRY CHRISTMAS TO YOU AND YOURS.

Answer
Hello

can you provide more details on the marking on the reel. It may be a Heddon Waltonian flyreel, in a shakespeare box? Also, what markings are on the box - model number, etc. There was also a Waltonian reel made by the Square Stamping Company.

you can send a photo to [email protected]
