Answer
Hi joe, sorry for the wait, really busy lately. As to your question, bring your surf/pier gear. You'll need flourocarbon leader, 60# test is good for most around here. You'll be pretty close to to Newport pier and haulover inlet as well as south pointe park (has a pier and jetties off  Government cut.) You're just minutes away from fantastic fishing all around. If you have lighter gear (bass type gear) go to Oleta river state park off 163 st. They have a small pier and you can fish for snapper, angel fish, cudas, redfish, snook and so on. You can even rent a canoe or kayak and fish the mangroves in the park. Joe, I'll be honest and say that there is alot I can tell you but I'm gonna do one better. I have a link below to a site that will definetely interest you and help you get started. Unfortunately, private charters down here are somewhat expensive. There's a small list of folks at the site you can contact. Don't over look head/party boats. You'll find plenty at the Haulover park area and one called the "reward" (reward charters) near south pointe. Do a google , I can't recall the exact address. I hope to have helped you out. Go check out the site Joe, it's all about florida fishing and many are in the area of collins ave.
