Identifying & Valuing Vintage Heddon Expert #125 Fly Rod (1948-1954)
Question
i received a heddon fly rod from my grandfather. it has "#125-8'-1 1/2 F - HEHorF" Heddon Expert written on it. It has the the tube and the wrap with all the tips and rod sections. Any idea of when it was made and should i use it. What is the value of a rod like this.(not to be sold due to sentimental value? Any information on this topic would be greatly appreciated.
Answer
JD,
Heddon made the expert #125 model from 1948 to 1954.
Please do not quote me for prices, Please. Can I say please again ? I am getting the prices from Antique & Collectable Fishing Rods: Identification & Value Guide Homel, Dan. 1997. You can probably find it in your local library. The 9 ft model #125 has an extra tip named "Expert" 80, 195 and $375 for poor, good, excellent respectively.
I recommend good care and yes fish it.
Good Luck
