Saltwater/surf fishing gear

What is a good midgrade fishing pole and reel for surf fishing for a beginner?  Preferably a spinning type reel, but what brand and specs on the reel and rod?  Thank you much

Hi Ray,
Wow, it has been a long time since I've been able to surf fish.  At that time I was using a Berkley rod and reel.  You can tell it has been a long time since Berkley hasn't made a reel for many years.

I use all Berkley rods and Garcia reels, so I would suggest something in their saltwater line for surf fishing.
