rainbow & speckle trout

what are the best lures or bait for these types of fish.  fishing will be done on a small river.

  Where is the small river? In my home waters, rivers can be small trickles of water...is the river fast, and clear or slow, meandering and off-color? What time of year will you be fishing? Are the "speckle" trout you refer to Brown Trout? Brook Trout? Dolly Varden? Some areas of the country refer to all of these, including the rainbow, as speckled trout...
  Also, what type of rod and reel will you be using? Fly? Spinning etc.?
  Any of the above information will enable me to give you a comprehensive answer to help you have the best fishing of your life!....
