Best Saltwater Fishing Rod & Reel Combo for Versatility

Question
I just started saltwater fishing and i've been using other peoples fishing equipment. Most of the time i surf fish, I would like to get a good rod and reel that i can use on land and in a boat if there is such a thing, maby you can help me out that would be great.

The very first combo is a good choice.
the "Spinfisher".
A Penn 5500 SS Spinning Reel.
A Penn CS676 Power Graph Spinning Rod.
Put on some Stren 20 pound test line and you are good to go, dude
there are other brands similar, Shakesphere, Diawa Etc.
