Fly Fishing in the British Virgin Islands: Best Time & Gear Advice
Question
Hi Randy
Im planning to visit the BVI for a flyfishing trip (bones, Tarpon, permit)and am trying to get advise on the best time to visit, flies etc. Any advise would be welcome (possibly even putting me onto a good chatroom or in touch with someone whose been there
Thanks
Peter
Answer
Aloha Peter,
I have not fished there myself, but I know people that have. I guess you are going to be working the flats, since you are flyfishing mostly. As far as I can tell the next two months should be very good fishing there. Try Catcherman.com They have a disscussion forum & also a Chat room. I do know that there is quite good fishing offshore there. Mahi, Wahoo, Tuna's and lots of Marlin. The weather should be favorable in earl sping & summer. After that it gets fairly rough waters and lots of wind. I wish I could help you out more. But the only guy I know for sure that has flyfished the flats there is somewhere in Bali right now. Good luck, Randy "Onagafish" Perry
PS. Send me an e-mail & let me know how you make out.
