Value of a Hardy rod

Question
I found this site through Google.  I'm looking to sell a Hardy rod.  It's marked as "The Hardy Nova Scotian, #819". It's 9', 8/9 wt. The serial number is BG38662.  I'm looking for some idea of its value.  I also have a Hardy St. John reel, but unfortunately the reel foot is broken - the reel works fine, but obviously I can't mount it.
I fish Atlantic salmon on the Miramichi River in New Brunswick Canada.
O'd appreciate any help or information you can supply.

Thanks.

Answer
Mike,
Price Book:
Antique & Collectible  Fishing Rods: Identification & Value Guide Homel, Dan. 1997 (2nd edition 2000) add about 30% for age of book.

Homel doesn't mention your model but gives the Hardy  "Gold Medal" salmon fly rod 9' with an extra tip, 3 sections the  value of  $75, 175 and $310 for poor, good, excellent condition respectively.

I bought on ebay, a cd with pdfs of dates and history of Hardy. I also have copies of the information from the Hardy and Grays Canadian web site that confirms the information on the DVD (they took it down). It is not something I would take into court but I found it to be reliable information.

BG38662 - the serial number is odd as is the model name. It is not in the information above. I suspect the B is actually a number. Confirm this and I can get you a date

Hardy History:  http://www.articlealley.com/article_634978_32.html
Hardy is still in business in Alnwick, England - on the web:
http://fly.hardyfishing.com/en-gb/home/

Rod values depend on condition. If it is still in the like new condition, for as much as 400.
I am a rod man , Homel has a book on reels - check your library.

Luck,
Mac
