Antique Fly Rod & Salmon Rod Appraisal - Value & Identification

Question
I have a Armax fly rod sereal No.7242 it is 9 feet.
I also have a salmon fishing rod Hardy Brothersseresl 36711. Both are in excellent condition with exrtra tips. They belonged to my grandfather and father. Salmon rod date before 1951.

Any idea what they are worth?

Answer
Eve,
I am assuming your rods have 6 sides, made out of bamboo, otherwise all of this information is in question.

Book:
Antique & Collectable Fishing Rods: Identification & Value Guide Homel, Dan. 1997 (2nd edition 2000) add about 30% for age of book

Armax rods were made by Winchester, the arms manufacture.
Homel does not list the Armax #7242.

Homel gives the "Armax" brand fly rod 9' with an extra tip, 3 sections the  value of  $50, 110 and $200 for poor, good, and excellent condition respectively.

If this rod was made after 1935 it was made by Horrocks-Ibbotson and has less value than the lowest figures above.

Hardy Brothersseresl I would need  length and a lot more information to help you. Also I suspect that this is not how the model name is spelled.(i.e. I think you meant serial not sereal. Please don't be offended - I am a horrible speller.)

Almost all AllExperts messages requesting rod information, state their rods to be in excellent or mint condition , but only a small majority are actually correct. I am not being condescending, it's just my experience.

Luck,
Mac
