Anglerfish Diet & Predators: What They Eat & Who Eats Them

An angler fish eats mostly small fish, although they have been known to eat squid and crustaceans as well. Angler fish are ambush predators, meaning that they wait for their prey to come to them before they strike. They use a lure that is attached to their head to attract prey. When the prey gets close enough, the angler fish will quickly open its mouth and swallow it whole.

Some animals that eat fish are:

- larger fish, such as sharks and tuna

- marine mammals, such as dolphins and seals

- seabirds, such as gannets and albatrosses

- reptiles, such as crocodiles and alligators

- amphibians, such as frogs and salamanders

- some insects, such as dragonflies and water beetles
