Old Horrocks Rod question

Question

logo
Hi Rich!

In my garage I have found several old fly fishing rods.  One that caught my eye has a logo on it that says Queen Elizabeth 1000 (hand written) H-I Power Glass.  Small lettering says Horrocks - Ibbotson Co. Utica, N.Y. Made in USA.  There is also a small picture of the queen right next to the logo.

Rod is in great condition.  Just wondering what you think it is worth and if it is worth anything, where can I sell it.

Any info is greatly appreciated!

Rich

Answer
Rich,
Strike one it was made by HI , 2 it is not bamboo.
The collectors set the prices.
Hi used mass production techniques to make thousands of poor quality fishing rods.
I have no specific history or books on fiberglass, I believe they don't exist, but here's two web sites that on fiberglass:
http://fiberglass-fly-rods.pbwiki.com/
http://www.fiberglassflyrodders.info/
Be wary of enthusiasts who say your rod is worth hundreds until they make a similar offer.
Wish I had better news for you but I think it is important to be open and honest. You might try ebay , I just checked and found one sold for $24. I doubt if you are going to get more than $50.
luck,
Mac
