1950-60s Southbend fly rod and reel

Question
I have an older fly rod marked Southbend Deluxe 3135 8 1/2 ft. Question is what line wt. was this rod designed for? Also is it a glass rod?
Also have the No 1140 Model D Oren-O-Matic reel 1959 vintage. I saw an old Southbend ad for this reel that recommended using C- level Banshee line. What type of line is this and what line weight?  Thanks!

Answer
Beau,

here is a good site to compare whether the rod is bamboo (six sided) or fiberglass (round).

If its not marked with a weight I would start with a 6 or 7 weight, but this is a good discussion on weights:

For the reel, it will handle a wide variety of weights....so select the line based on the rod.
