Bronson Uni-Spin

Question
Recently I came across a Uni-Spin, Bronson 63 Professional. The printing on the rod is very hard to read but here is what I can read. "Genuine", "TIP TOP", "M50" and there is a small sticker on the rod with the name "Herter's. eBay and other sites state the rod is True Temper. Nothing on the rod I see comes close to that name. The rod is hollow glass, 2 piece and around 73" in length. There are 5 eyes plus the tip. I'm not expecting much information on this because of what I can give you, but anything will be appreciated.  Thank You Sir, Dave

Answer
Hi Dave,

I'm not sure if True Temper bought out Bronson or what happened exactly.  But it was sold as the Bronson True Temper Uni-Spin and then later just the True Temper Uni Spin.  I'm guessing it was from the late 1950's or 1960's.  The Herters thing throws me for a loop, but I am guessing that it was a model sold exclusively by them.  Herters was like Cabelas back then.  They did private labeling.  Its a great combo to have.  There are guys that still seek them out to use them.  Unfortunately you aren't going to get rich.  They go for $40-$50.  Yours may be a little more unique due to the Herters connection, but still not more than $60 to $70 if it's in great condition.

Good fishing,

Marc
