I have a 1st surf rod What be the best lb fishing line to put on?

Hi David, thanks for asking. Check your rod, it will have a line rating that's recommended for it.
on the blank, above the handle, it will state something like 9' med. heavy action 12-20lbs or something like that. it indicates the length of the rod, it's action, and the part where it would say lb or kg is the recommended line range. in my example above, the range is from 12lb to 20lb lines. which means you can use 12, 15,17 and 20lb lines.
