Correcting Shoulder Tilt in Your Golf Swing: A Troubleshooting Guide

Question
I have been taking lessons and having my swing video taped and getting readings on shoulder tilt etc.  I have done the drill where I put club accross my chest and turn 90 deg and have club point at the ball or a few inches outside of the ball.  When I put a club in my hand for some reason I just turn level and that shoulder points way outside the ball.  In trying to keep club on plane I have to make compensations...is it just muscle memory and breaking old habits?  Any suggestions?

Thanks

Answer
Bob,

It sounds like a security issue. You obviously have the flexibility to turn your lead shoulder behind the ball. I suggest that you practice your backswing only. Get accustomed to turning your shoulder behind the ball and get used to that feeling. Once you do this over and over then incorporate this into your full swing.

It should feel different which is something you have to work yourself into.

Sorry for the delay.
