Driving distance

Question
Thank you in advance to help me.

I am a long hitter for Iron (tee to ground, no roll)(Mizuno JPX600e 2010 Regular flex). #9 go to 150-155 yards, #5 go to 195-200 yards. But my driver #3 and #1 not match the power I have with my irons. #3 go to 210 yards #1 got to 225 yards (TaylorMade FastBurner 2010 Stiff-Regular flex).

My back swing is close the same angle for Iron and Driver.

What can be the problem?

Answer
Michel:  I must admit this has me at a loss for an obvious fix to your problem.  I would suggest checking the things that rob one of distance.
1.  Check your ball position making sure it is opposite of your front instep.
2.  Check your aim.  The lines across your toes, hips and shoulders should be pointing left of your target (if you're right-handed) and parallel to your ball line.  Improper aim slows the club down during the swing as its re-routed to the proper path.
3.  Check your balance.  Are you holding your finish at the end of the swing or are you struggling to stay in place?  If you're not in balance, you're in the process of falling down during the swing and that slows the club down as well.

When you've checked all the above and still haven't gotten the distance you should, the equipment may be wrong for your swing.  Hit some of your friends clubs to see if they make a difference.  The pro-shop where you play may have clubs you can try to find what's good for you.

I hope this helps you fix your issue.  Thanks for your question.

Fairways and Greens,

John
