Troubleshooting High Ball Flight in Golf - Driver Issues
Question
I am basically happy with my golf game except for the ball flight. I seem to hit my driver very high. I have tried different drivers and shafts, but always seem to hit it high. the following is a small list of the drivers and shafts.
Callaway FT5 9 degree, UST proforce 65 stiff shaft.
Callaway Diablo 8 degree, Aidilla 65 stiff shaft
Ping Rapture 8 degree, aidilla 65 stiff shaft
Ping G5 9 degree, Graffaloy Blue X-stiff
any help would be grateful
Answer
Ok Kyle...that's quite a list of drivers you've been trying there. I'm currently using a G-10 and have a fairly high ball flight, but that's the way I like to hit the ball. Sounds like your ball flight is high enough that it's problematic, however. I'm a little surprised that you didn't get a lower ball flight out of that Rapture club, though. I hit one for a few days and I don't think I ever got the thing more than 12 feet off the ground. It was long, but I prefer to get my yardage in carry.
It's almost impossible to give you this specific advice without seeing you hit some balls with different clubs. Here's what I suggest. Call some courses/pro shops in your area and find out when they have demo days scheduled. Not just the kind in a golf store where the rep answers questions, but rather the kind at a green grass facility where the rep can actually put your hands on a dozen different clubs with different lofts/shafts and make reccomendations. I think that's the bast chance of finding something that you'll need without buying something that you end up not being happy with.
Good luck,
John
