How to Achieve a Shallow Divot with a Higher Ball Flight - Golf Swing Tips
Question
Hello Michael,
I would like to take a shallow divot with my iron shots.
I am tall so I have fairly upright swing (not too upright) which produces a nice ball flight but I take a heavier divot than I would like.
If I use a low takeaway and flatten my swing a little the divot becomes fairly shallow which is what I like. However, this compensation produces a low ball flight which I don抰 like.
How can I take a shallow divot and still maintain the moderately high ball flight?
Thanks for any help.

Answer
Don,
Here is what I suggest you try to minimize the depth of your divots. Try moving the ball up in your stance. This should shallow out your divot and it will keep the nice high ball flight that you enjoy. This may take a while to adjust to, but it will be worth the wait.
Thanks for the question.
Michael
