Golf Rules: Bees in the Bunker - Can You Take Relief?
Question
I read recently that if your ball goes into the bunker and there are bees in there that you can take a free drop as long as you keep your ball in the bunker. Number 1, is that true? Number 2, what if the bees are flying all around the bunker and you can find no relief?
Answer
I think the guys that deal with rules more often than I would be better for this, please ask one of them,
In my opinion, I would think there is a ruling allowing for natural hazards in the same genre as wet ground/ clean and place, due to possible health issue, i.e. allergic to bees, and as long as the lie is not improved then all is good.
Thanks
Jim
