huge distance loss

Question
Recently in the past two weeks i have lost an enormous amount of distance.  I can't think of a reason to why it has happened. My favorite distance was 100 yards. A nice easy full sand wedge swing. Now a hit it about 60 yards. It started the first week the same with all my wedges then move into the rest of my game. I hit my 7 iron 155-160 and now its about 130 yards.  My driver was averaging 250 yards with mishits now its about 200 yards, 220 if i catch it good.  I have been hitting everything solid and they still go very short. I am a 5 handicapper. If you have any ideas please help because i am at a panic state right now.

Answer
Hello Robert:
Thanks for asking this question.

You are very seasoned and experienced player.  Yet, I will try to give some thoughts what I  an share to hopefully correct your problems quickly.

First, please check the trajectory of your ball after you hit   Is it flying too high and the same?  If the ball fly too high, then you need to adjust either ball position or handle.  If the ball is positioned to the left (assuming you are a right hand player), the higher the ball will fly.  If your handle is more to the center of your body, I think it will send the ball higher with more loft of club blade.

Secondly, check your tempo of swing.  Did you tend to swing with less speed?  Did you slow down the overall swing?  Then, I recommend to speed up 7 ?10 % more.  Is your entire swing continuous?  Please make sure the swing is not disconnected throughout to the finish.

Lastly, how about your leg?  Do you still your weight shift?   You should be able to use weight shift when down-swing.

I hope you can find a root cause quite quickly, and get back to where you were.

Thanks.

Dan
