ball impact...


Question
How can i improve the ball impact?...ussually a stroke the ball very high leaving big divots specially with short irons....
My other issue is when I impact good the ball with short iron i have a distance problem.....pitching i could hit it as far as 150 yards and sand as far as 120 yards....shots closer than 80 yards are very tricky for me and using a L 60 degrees have not helped sp far.....thanks...

Hello and thank you for asking.  Your main issue is impact position and part of the swing.  You are not trapping the ball and delofting the club face at impact.  You are increasing loft and scooping the ball instead.  This will cause weaker higher shots, mostly straight or to the right for longer irons.

Divots have nothing to do with good ball striking.  Just because you take a divot does not mean you hit a good shot.  The divot has to be made in front of the ball after the ball is struck, and about the size of a dolar bill for most irons shorter than a 3 or 4, and not any deeper than 1-2 cm.

You are having trouble with the short irons inside 100 because 1) You dont practice them enough on the range 2) You have not mastered the control of the length of your backswing.
