Path to Professional Golf: Assessing Your Potential
Question
I am 20 years old and just started getting serious about golf about 3-4 years ago. I study golf everyday and in the summer I play and practice golf everyday. My handicap is only a 12, but I know that I have the ability to improve. I love to play golf and I know that whatever I choose as my career it will most definitely have to do with golf. However, how can I find out whether I have the ability to play professional golf? I know that you're supposed to play in amateur tournaments and such, but my main question is how do I find a person that will help me with my game and work with me once week or more if possible to tell me whether or not I have enough talent to become a professional golfer.
Thanks
Answer
Hi David, you're best to go along to your nearest PGA Pro at your local course and ask for a lesson or google nearby pro's and find who has a good reputation and go see him he will then watch you hit balls or play a few holes and give you an honest answer. But at you age and current handicap i think it might be a little late, unless you do nothing but play and practice every day and enter competitions all over the place. Good luck
