Driver loft and shaft flex

Question
Hi Eddie,

I am looking at purchasing a new driver because the one I have is 10 years old and I am looking for more distance.  I usually drive the ball about 280 on good drives but the ball flies so high that it doesnt roll at all.  Usually I can find a ball mark in the fairway near the ball.  I have a 10.5 degree Titanium precept driver with a tip cut Stiff shaft.  I recently tried hitting the Taylor Made SuperQuad and hit a few in the 300 range.  Those also were very high without much roll.  That club was a 9.5 degree with a Stiff shaft.  My basic question is, since I dont have trouble getting the ball up in the air, should I go for the 8.5 degree driver and an xtra stiff shaft to try and bring the trajectory down and get more distance?  Thanks,

Answer
Hi Cris:

Yes.  The other thing is to find a shaft and loft combo that gives you "tumble" once the ball hits the ground.  You don't want your ball backing up and getting no roll with a driver.  I think you are on the right track.  A good clubfitter can help you there.
