long irons

Question
Hey Stanley,

This is more of a question out of curiosity, but dont you think that it is a bit odd that i hit a 4 or 5 iron as far as a 7 iron?  even when I hit them perfect (to me at least) they go as far as an average 7 iron.  just wondering if you have any idea why this happens.  Otherwise, swing is coming around.  driver is starting to go straight and irons are getting better.  Have to practice on my pitching and shorter wedge shots though.  that is where i lose most of my strokes because then i leave myself far away from the hole.

thanks,
garrett

Answer
no doubt in the world that u are not hitting them solid.  period.  no excuses on the clubs or anything.  although it may seem like you are hitting the clubs well, you are not hitting it properly.  there are slightly different ways to hit different clubs.  longer the club, the shallower your swing should be.  if its a four iron, swing it like you would swing it like a 3 wood.  shallow it out.  the angle shouldn't be same as 7 iron.
