shot allocation in doubles matchplay

Question
hi I'm very confused as to who gets which shots when in this scenario, I'm an 11 handicap my playing partner is 23 and were playing two fellow members of 13 and 15 so I'd like to know who gets shots and on which stroke index holes

Answer
Dear Scott, thanks for the question.  You can actually handle this a few different ways.  First off, you can all play your individual handicaps off the scorecard taking the appropriate strokes.  For instance, you are the 11, so you would take a stroke on the 11 most difficult holes as determined on the card...and likewise for the other players.  The other way is to consider yourself (because you are the lowest handicap in the group) the scratch golfer and everyone takes the appropriate strokes from you.  For example, the 13 would get a stroke on the 2 toughest holes...and the 15 would get 4 strokes.  Lastly, you can have two separate matches.  For instance, you would play the 13 handicap player and give him 2 strokes and your partner would play against the 15 and recieve 8 strokes from him.  Each of you play your individual match for a point each.  Every way is fair and within the USGA guidelines for handicaps.  Good luck, thanks again, and remember...

Love the game,
skipper
