Understanding Ping Irons: What Does the Black Dot Indicate?
Question
What does the black dot on the back of the irons mean? Would you recommend them?
Answer
The black dot is one of Ping's color-coded clubfitting ratings. It means that these clubs are "standard" models - i.e., they have the standard-length shafts, standard offset, standard lies. If you are particularly tall or short, or have a swing in which you approach the ball from a particularly steep or flat angle, you probably would be better off with clubs fit to your body type and swing type. Otherwise, standard clubs are probably just fine. But a clubfitting is always a good idea. Here's a good explanation of why -- http://golf.about.com/cs/tipslessons/a/aa041003a.htm
