Pro Golf or Scholarship

Question
Hey there.  My name is Brent and I am a 22 year old 5 handicap from Edmonton, Canada.  I was wondering what the liklihood of pursuing a golf career or earning a golf scholarship in the United States is with my calibre of game.

I usually score in the high 70s on a 6600 yard golf course. I average about 250-260 off the tee and I have a pretty solid short game. Occasionally I can shoot under par, and once or twice a year I will score in the 60s.  My good tournament scores are in the low 70s.  All aspects of my game are pretty consistent.

A few years ago I tried to qualify for the US Amateur and my scores in qualifying were in the low 80s. I played college golf in Canada (which is a considerably lower level than that of the NCAA) for a few years and was consistently in the high 70s and low 80s playing courses that were 6500-7000 yards.

Are there any professional tours that I could possibly play an event or two on? Just curious.

Thanks for taking my question!
Brent

Answer
HI Brent;

There are several venues for you to compete in.

Since your in Canada, contact the CPGA Tour.  They do have Monday qualifying events to fill tour empty positions within the field.

Otherwise you can find out more by visiting http://www.minorleaguegolf.com/links.asp
This is an all encompassing website of the mini tours.

Good Luck out there and enjoy.

Happy Golfing and have a great day
