A QUSTION FOR A SCHOOL PROJECT

Question
HELL0 THIS IS A QUSTION FOR A SCHOOL PROJECT......

HOW DO YOU THINK GOLF CLUBS HAVE CHANGED IN THE LAST 5 YEARS?

Answer
Hi Gary, and thanks for your question.

Wow, where do I start?!

I see the biggest changes in the way the club heads are designed and the materials that are being used.  In irons, the way the mass of the club head is distributed now in the cavity backs make a huge difference.  The cavity sets the mass not only out to the toe of the club and to the heel, but to the sole, too.  This puts the center of gravity lower, which helps players hit the ball in the air more easily.  The weight to the toe and heel make shots hit there go a little straighter and fly a little longer.  Using particular metals, like titanium, makes the clubs lighter and stronger, resulting in increased ball speed, which leads to more distance.

Shaft technology is really strong, too.  The shaft is the "engine" of the club, and the choices out there for people are increasing all of the time.  This goes hand in hand with custom club fitting....mathcing equipment to the player to find the best fit.

The golf ball is having a huge impact, as well.  Just look at the success of the Titleist Pro V-1 for instance.  Go to the Titleist home page for a whole bunch of information.

Hope this helps, and check out the web for more in depth tech info.  If you would like, please call me and we can discuss this at lenght.  215-343-0350
