TEE OFF TAIL END (SLICE!)

im 3 years playing golf im left handed with a propper grip recently on tee off the tail end of my shot seems to tail off left constanantly i tend to stand back of the ball to try and stop it..
what should i concentrate on improving.
   thanks dave

Answer
Hi Dave, and thanks for the question.

Two things:  One, your club face is definitely open at impact.  That is what causes a slice.  So, check your grip first, and make sure that the club face is "square" at address.  If this checks out, then something is happening during the swing.

If I understand your comments correctly, it sounds as if you are trying to keep your body from going forward when you swing through the ball when you state that you "stand back off the ball to try to stop it".  Do you end up leaning on your left side after impact?  If so, you need to work on gaining a better finish position (proper weight shift).  If you "hang back" at impact, the club face will be open every time.

Hope this info is helpful, and if you can, go see your local PGA Professional for some additional help!

Sincerely,
