GS pole length

2016/7/22 11:05:00

Question
Hi Lisa, I want to buy GS poles for Masters race training. Should GS poles be the same length as normal poles? I know how to find the correct length for normal poles.

Answer
Hi Paul and thanks for the question.
Apologies for the delay in advance, have been away doing my first half ironman triathlon! [sorry i'm telling everyone]

Back to you:
GS poles are literally longer as they mould to your body shape as much as possible.
It will depend where you like to rest your elbows [on, behind or infront of your knees] as to the length you need. As we get older the knee rest can have its benefits!!

The less you have to adjust the pole the stronger it will remain. Best to get them in a shop that sells racing equipment if they are your first pair. Once you know what you want and like then buying online is easier.

You will love the masters - its a fantastic event. Actually i wouldnt be surprised if one of the masters perks is discounted equipment so perhaps wait till you get there to buy.

Have a great time

lisa
