twin tips

Question
Hi Cynthia-

I've been skiing all my life, mostly in the east.  I am taking two trips out west and want to get a twin tip ski for powder, bumps, and tree skiing.  I currently ski on the vokll tierra, 163s.  Do you have recommendations for a twin tip?  Also, should I go longer or shorter with the length?  Thanks.

Bethany

Answer
Dear Bethany --

Usually the twin tips will have a bit more sidecut and wider tip and tail so you can ski them shorter.  A wider ski will help you "float" in powder more, so if your focus is powder that is a good choice.

Since you like the Volkl Tierra, you could stay with Volkl.  Please consider the Kiku, the Aura, or the Cosmo in the 156 or the 163 lengths.  The 163s will give you more float; the 156s will give your more quickness for tree skiing.

Please write back if you have additional questions.  I hope you have a great trip.
