Where to ski?

2016/7/22 11:05:05

Question
I am an expert tele skier and I want to visit one of the following (or other) resorts this winter. I am looking for challenge, as much powder as possible and no crowds. On my list are: Salt Lake City, Jackson Hole, Kicking Horse (BC), Revelstoke?

What do you recommend? Any other suggestion? I normally ski in Qu閎ec.

Thanks.

Pat

Answer
Hi and thanks for the question.

You've some great choices to pick from. But unfortunately im unable to predict who will have the best snow for your upcoming season. They all have fantastic pros and a few cons [but all resorts do]. Guess it will come down to cost of travel and time to get there, as well as accommodation and terrain choices rather than the pow-pow alone. Anything other than eastern 'powder' will be a treat.

Kicking-Horse when the season is on is fresh track heaven. Also because its a little more out of the way - crowds arent as big/congested. Be aware tho, BC is holding the olympics this season and that could possibly swell numbers with o/s visitors.
They could all be considered close enough to other resorts if you want to try a few.
Salt Lake is probably easier to fly in/out of [less travel time]

Honestly - i would look at terrain, average snow depth,  then ease of travel to determine which resort to head for. Also - check out local school holidays and public holidays as they tend to increase the queues you want to avoid.
Another great area is Aspen for choice as there is more than one resort in the valley and when it snows it is magic.

Sorry i cant be more specific - just try one, you can try the other one next year...
